Light to moderate rain in much of the Canary Islands this Friday
The latest State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecast for today, Friday, in the Canary Islands, shows light to moderate rain in the northern areas of Tenerife and Gran Canaria in the second half of the day. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura may also see some showers, although these will be less likely and more scattered.
Temperatures are expected to remain largely stable, with only slight increases in daytime highs. Winds will blow from the north at moderate strength, picking up later in the day. AEMET does not rule out locally very strong gusts in the highlands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria during the evening.
Sea conditions are forecast to be moderate, with north or northeast winds of force 3 or 4, strengthening to 5 or locally 6 further offshore. Expect slight seas, moderate seas, or choppy waters, along with a northwest swell of 2 to 3 metres.

TENERIFE
Cloudy skies will dominate the north, with broad clear spells in the middle of the day. Cloud cover will return in the afternoon, bringing light to moderate rain, especially in the midlands towards evening. Other zones will see variable cloud, becoming cloudier overall by nightfall, with the possibility of isolated showers in the midlands. The central peaks will remain mostly clear during the morning. Temperatures will stay similar, with slight increases at mid-altitude and coastal areas, and slight decreases at the highest elevations, where weak frost is not ruled out. Northerly winds will be light to moderate, strengthening later with possible very strong gusts on the summits. Southern coasts will experience breezes.
General temperature range: Low of 15°C and high of 22°C.
GRAN CANARIA
In the north, cloudy conditions will dominate, with some bright spells around midday. Cloud cover will increase again in the afternoon, bringing light to moderate rain, particularly in the midlands later on. Other areas will see a mix of cloud and sun, with clearer skies around midday. Temperatures will remain stable, with slight increases in maximum temperatures along the eastern slopes. Northerly winds will be moderate, with strong intervals in the northeast and northwest, strengthening in the highlands where very strong gusts are possible late in the day. Breezes will dominate in the south.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 22°C.
LANZAROTE
Cloudy skies are expected early on, with some clearer intervals through the morning. Occasional light showers may develop in the afternoon. Temperatures will show little change, with slight increases in maximum values. Light to moderate northerly winds will strengthen later, bringing strong intervals inland.
General temperature range: Low of 14°C and high of 21°C.
FUERTEVENTURA
Mostly cloudy at the start of the day, with clearer spells by midday. Light, occasional showers may appear in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain steady. Northerly winds will be light to moderate, intensifying in the evening, especially in the Jandía area.
General temperature range: Low of 15°C and high of 21°C.
