The Canary Islands will begin the week with cloudier skies, light showers, and a slight dip in temperatures, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Today’s forecast (Monday), shows intervals of cloud, more frequent in the north of the islands, with weak and occasional rainfall — most likely in the mid-altitude areas of Gran Canaria.

Maximum temperatures are expected to fall slightly in northern areas, and winds will blow from the north and northeast.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will see moderate northerly winds, while the rest of the archipelago will experience moderate northeasterlies, with stronger gusts possible on the southeast and northwest slopes of the more mountainous islands (Tenerife and Gran Canaria).

At sea, conditions will include variable winds of force 1 to 4, and north or northeast winds of force 3 to 4 producing slight to moderate seas, increasing later to moderate seas. Along southern, eastern, and southwestern coasts, winds will be lighter, with slight seas. A north to northwest swell of 1–2 metres is expected.

TENERIFE
More cloud in the north early and late, and in the southwest interior during the afternoon, with occasional showers in these areas. Clear at higher altitudes. Minimum temperatures steady; maximums stable or slightly lower. Northeasterly winds, occasionally strong on the southeast and far northwest coasts.
Expected temperature range: Low of 20°C and a high of 24°C.

GRAN CANARIA
Cloudier in the north, especially in mid-altitude areas where light rain is forecast early and late in the day. Some cloud inland on the southern side in the afternoon. Slight drop in northern maximums. Moderate northeasterly winds, occasionally strong on southeast and northwest slopes.
Expected temperature range: Low of 20°C and a high of 25°C.

LANZAROTE
Cloudier early in the day, with a small chance of isolated light showers. Temperatures mostly unchanged, though slightly cooler maximums in the north. Moderate northerly winds.
Expected temperature range: Low of 18°C and a high of 24°C.

FUERTEVENTURA
Intervals of cloud and little change in temperatures, except for a slight drop in northern maximums. Moderate northerly winds.
Expected temperature range: Low of 17°C and a high of 24°C.
