Light calima and strong winds forecast in the Canary Islands this Tuesday

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) are forecasting light calima (haze) and intervals of strong winds in the Canary Islands for today, Tuesday. Wind gusts could be particularly intense during the early hours in areas traditionally exposed to trade winds, with occasional locally very strong gusts not ruled out.

The concentration of haze is expected to be more noticeable inland in the eastern and southern regions of Gran Canaria, and it may also affect the southern parts of Tenerife and the western islands during the second half of the day.

Meanwhile, skies will remain mostly clear, and temperatures will remain stable or experience a slight increase.

At sea, moderate to strong northeast or north winds are expected, reaching Force 6 offshore. The sea state will range from moderate to rough, with a northwesterly swell of 2 to 3 metres.

Today’s forecast for each of the Islands:

LANZAROTE:

Mostly clear skies with light calima, gradually clearing. Temperatures remaining steady. Moderate northeast winds.
Expected temperatures: 17°C - 22°C

FUERTEVENTURA:

Clear skies with light calima, dissipating later in the day. Temperatures stable or slightly rising. Moderate northeast winds with occasional strong intervals in the western areas during the early hours, where some locally very strong gusts may occur.
Expected temperatures: 16°C - 22°C

GRAN CANARIA:

Clear skies with some low cloud intervals in the north during early and late hours. Light calima, particularly in the midlands of the east and south. Temperatures stable or slightly rising, more noticeable in northwestern and southwestern areas.

Moderate northeast winds in low-lying areas and easterly winds in the midlands, with strong intervals in the southeast and northwest at dawn, where locally very strong gusts are not ruled out. Light easterly winds in the highlands and coastal breezes in the southwest.
Expected temperatures: 17°C - 23°C
