Jet2 flight to Lanzarote diverted after onboard medical emergency

A Jet2 flight from Glasgow to Lanzarote was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Portugal after a passenger became seriously unwell during the journey.

Flight LS167 diverted to Faro on Wednesday evening after a medical emergency was reported on board. Emergency services were waiting when the aircraft landed, and the passenger was taken to hospital for treatment.

According to flight tracking data, the Boeing 737-800 departed Glasgow Airport just after 3.15pm and had been due to arrive in Lanzarote at 7.50pm. However, the crew changed course mid-flight to ensure the passenger could receive urgent medical care as quickly as possible.

After remaining on the ground in Faro for around two hours, the aircraft was cleared to continue its journey and later departed for Lanzarote.
