Heat, haze, and high temperatures across the Canary Islands this Thursday
The Canary Islands will face another hot and hazy day today, Thursday, with temperatures reaching 37°C, according to Spain’s national weather service, AEMET.
The yellow weather warnings remain in place for heat and haze, and conditions will also affect the sea, with variable winds and a northerly swell of up to two metres.
At sea:
Winds variable, mainly easterly, force 1–3, with smooth to slight seas. In the afternoon, temporarily easterly or north-easterly force 4–5 on northern and southern coasts, producing slight seas. Northerly swell of 1–2 metres.
Island forecast:
LANZAROTE:
High cloud with some mid-level intervals. Calima easing in the afternoon. Maximums of 30–33°C, with inland areas possibly exceeding 34°C. Minimums may not drop below 25°C inland. Light easterly winds, occasionally moderate.
FUERTEVENTURA:
High cloud with some mid-level intervals. Calima easing later. Maximums of 30–33°C, with the west and interior possibly exceeding 34°C. Minimums may stay around 25°C inland. Light easterly winds with moderate intervals.
GRAN CANARIA:
High and mid-level cloud. Occasional storms or showers possible in central inland areas. Calima affecting mainly the south-facing midlands and higher zones. Maximums up to 36–37°C in the interior, especially in the south, west, and Tejeda basin. Northern midlands may reach 34°C. Minimums could stay above 26°C in southern and western midlands. Light easterly winds, moderate in parts of the north and south coasts, with southeasterly winds in higher areas.
TENERIFE:
High and mid-level cloud. Storms or occasional showers may develop inland during the central hours, with some heavier local rain possible on the east side. Calima mainly affecting the southern and higher inland zones. Temperatures stable or slightly rising, with highs around 34–36°C in southern and western midlands. Minimums could remain at 26°C in southern midlands and some northern areas. Light easterly winds, occasionally moderate in the northeast and south coasts, southeasterly in the highlands.
