Remember the eight puppies found abandoned in a cardboard box next to a rubbish bin in El Hiero? Well, Canarian Weekly has received good news that all of the puppies are fit and healthy and are about to go to new forever homes.
As we reported on May 16th, the puppies were found in a state of dehydration and riddled with parasites by volunteers of El Juaclo, an animal protection association on the island of El Hierro.
The future was looking bleak for the young dogs, but the volunteers worked 24/7, spending sleepless nights cleaning and hydrating them.
When the puppies were showing signs of recovery, El Juaclo reached out to Live PAWS here in Tenerife, as the dogs would have a better chance of finding new owners and new homes on the island, because of the small population in El Hierro.
All eight puppies, which are a Labrador and Pointer mix, arrived in Tenerife last Monday, and the good news is that all of them have now been adopted and are waiting to go to their new forever homes after they have had their rabies jabs.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in their rescue, recovery and rehoming, a lovely end to what could have been a tragic story.
