Covid update: Both Tenerife and Gran Canaria have health indicators in Level 1 range

The latest data from the Ministry of Health reports 87 new cases and two deaths today, as the downward trend stabilises with incidence rates for the islands at 25 over 7-days and 56 over 14 days. The decrease in data has slowed down as far as new cases, incidence rates, and the R rate of contagion, but active cases and hospitalisations continue to drop.

In fact, with today’s data, both Tenerife and Gran Canaria have indicators in Level 1 territory and should be reduced to the lowest level of restrictions at the Governing Council meeting this Thursday, who have confirmed they are reviewing the levels this week after last week’s meeting was cancelled due to the volcanic eruption in La Palma.

Of the new cases today, Tenerife has the most with 47, followed by Gran Canaria with 29, Lanzarote has 8, Fuerteventura has 3, and none of the other islands had any detected. In fact, La Gomera is now completely Covid free with no active cases on the island.
