FRIDAY WEATHER: Light rain and strong swells expected across the Canaries
The Spanish met office is forecasting a mix of cloudy spells, slightly cooler temperatures, moderate westerly winds, and occasional, scattered showers across the Canary Islands today, Friday, now that Storm Claudia is exiting the archipelago.
At sea, conditions will be unsettled, with westerly winds of force 5 or 6, locally reaching 7 early in the far north and south. These will ease later to force 4 or 5, and down to 3 or 4 overnight.
A strong swell is expected, locally heavy in the north until the afternoon and in the south early on, decreasing later in the day. A north-westerly groundswell of 3–4 metres will affect the islands.
Island Forecasts for Friday 14th November:
LANZAROTE
Cloudy intervals with low cloud in the first half of the day, shifting to mainly high cloud in the afternoon. Temperatures steady or slightly lower. Light to moderate westerly winds with southerly coastal breezes, easing later.
Expected temperatures: A low of 19°C and a high of 24°C.
FUERTEVENTURA
Cloudy intervals with developing clouds inland during the middle of the day. Occasional light, scattered showers cannot be ruled out. Temperatures are stable or slightly down. Light to moderate westerly winds with easterly coastal breezes, easing in the afternoon.
Expected temperatures: A low of 19°C and a high of 25°C.
GRAN CANARIA
Mostly clear at first with more clouds in the west. Cloud will build inland and on the eastern side from midday, with the chance of occasional, scattered rainfall. Skies will clear again later. Temperatures will be stable or slightly lower, locally more noticeable on the east side. Moderate westerly winds easing to light through the day, with breezes along the east coast.
Expected temperatures: A low of 19°C and a high of 24°C.
TENERIFE
Cloudy intervals, becoming mostly overcast in inland areas around midday, where occasional, scattered showers are expected. Temperatures unchanged or slightly lower, locally moderate on the eastern side. Light to moderate westerly winds with breezes on the east coast. In the central peaks, strong north-westerly winds will ease to moderate westerlies by late morning.
Expected temperatures: A low of 19°C and a high of 25°C.
