A man and woman have been arrested in Arrecife after allegedly attacking a man inside his car, stealing his mobile phone, and threatening him in front of their young child.

The incident happened just after 9.30am yesterday (Monday) on Vía Medular in Arrecife, while Local Police officers were already dealing with a separate traffic accident involving an injured person nearby.

According to reports, officers from the Local Police and National Police rushed to the car after reports of a disturbance close to where the accident response was taking place. Both police forces worked together to control the situation and investigate what had happened.

Police say the suspects are a 39-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman who allegedly fought with and assaulted a man who was sitting inside a vehicle. They reportedly stole his mobile phone and also attempted to take a shoulder bag containing personal belongings, although they were unsuccessful.

Officers also reported that the pair allegedly made repeated serious threats against the victim, including threats to cause him serious harm, even while police were there.

The couple’s young son witnessed the incident, leading officers from the Local Police Family and Minors Unit to step in. A responsible family member was later contacted and took custody of the child during the police operation.

Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of robbery and making serious threats, with police confirming that the investigation remains ongoing.
