Cloudy skies and slightly cooler weather forecast for the Canary Islands this Sunday
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) is forecasting a mix of cloud and sunshine across the Canary Islands this Sunday, with slightly cooler temperatures and moderate winds, especially in northern areas of the archipelago.
In coastal waters, winds will blow from the north or northeast at force 5 to 6 in the southeast and northwest, and at force 3 to 4 in the northeast. Moderate to rough seas are expected in these areas.
In the southwest, winds will vary between force 2 and 3 with calmer seas and a swell ranging from 1 to 2 metres.
Island-by-Island Forecast:
LANZAROTE:
The north of the island will remain mostly cloudy, with some clear spells expected in the afternoon. Elsewhere, the skies will be partly cloudy, tending towards mostly clear by midday. Temperatures will remain stable. Moderate northerly winds are forecast, becoming stronger at times in inland areas on the southern side of the island.

FUERTEVENTURA:
Cloudy skies will dominate during the early morning and late evening, with generally clearer conditions through the middle of the day. Temperatures will remain mostly unchanged, with a slight dip in inland maximums. Moderate northerly winds are expected, becoming stronger towards the south of Jandía.

GRAN CANARIA:
In the northern half of the island, at altitudes below 1,200 to 1,300 metres, cloudy skies will prevail with some clearer intervals around midday. There is a slight chance of light rain, particularly in mid-altitude areas early in the morning and this evening. The rest of the island will enjoy mostly clear or sunny weather.
Coastal temperatures will remain steady, while inland areas, especially in the southern half of the island, will see a slight drop. Moderate trade winds may become strong in the southeast and western slopes, with a low chance of very strong gusts. Light coastal breezes are expected in the southwest.

TENERIFE:
Northern areas below altitudes of 1,200 to 1,300 metres will experience mainly cloudy skies, with some sunshine breaking through at midday and a slight chance of light, occasional showers in the northeast at mid-altitudes early and late in the day. High mountain areas will remain clear. Elsewhere, conditions will be mostly sunny, though there may be some cloud in the west during the morning.
Coastal temperatures will hold steady, while a slight to moderate drop is expected in higher altitudes and midlands. Moderate trade winds are forecast, strengthening in the far northwest and southern metropolitan slopes. Light breezes are expected along the southwestern coast. On the central peaks, winds will shift from moderate northwesterlies to lighter westerlies.
