Another calima and increase in temperatures are on the way

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has announced that the heat and haze are returning to the Canary Islands from Friday, with temperatures expected to exceed 30°C across the archipelago.

Airborne dust particles are forecast to affect Lanzarote and Fuerteventura on Friday afternoon and will spread west to the rest over the weekend with the temperatures rising as the calima covers the islands leaving the skies hazy and reducing visibility.

Light and occasional rains are forecast at dawn and at the end of the day in the eastern islands on Friday, with a predominance of cloudy intervals.

Temperatures will be more pronounced in inland areas rather than on coasts, and the wind will blow from the northeast with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast slopes of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, with mostly breezes on the southwest coasts of the islands.
