A ‘thermal anomaly’ will bring intense heat to the Canary Islands next week

Next week, Spain will experience a "thermal anomaly" that will cause a significant increase in temperatures in the mainland of the country, something that is rare for this time of year, and the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued weather warnings for high temperatures in a large part of the country, and has recommended that the population take measures to protect themselves from the heat, especially in the hottest hours of the day.

However, this weather front is also going to affect the Canary Islands, not to the same extent in terms of high temperatures, but there will be a mini-heatwave and extreme temperatures in some areas of the Archipelago.

The Aemet has reported that due to the thermal anomaly the maximum temperatures could reach 30 degrees Celsius in both Canary capitals on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
