The strong winds that have affected parts of the Canary Islands in recent days are expected to ease today Friday, while temperatures will once again climb to around 30°C in some inland areas, according to the latest forecast from AEMET.
Most of the archipelago can expect largely sunny skies, with only some low cloud affecting northern coastal areas during the early part of the day.
At sea, conditions will remain moderately rough, with north to north-easterly winds of force 3 to 5 and a northerly swell of between one and two metres.
Island-by-island forecast for Friday 12th June 2026:
Tenerife
Northern parts of the island below 500 to 700 metres will begin the day under cloudy skies before clearer conditions develop during the morning. The rest of Tenerife, including the main tourist resorts in the south, is expected to enjoy sunny conditions throughout the day.
There is a slight possibility of isolated showers in inland areas from midday onwards, accompanied by patches of medium and high cloud. Winds will generally be light to moderate from the north, while stronger south-westerly winds are expected around the summit areas, including exposed parts of Mount Teide, where occasional very strong gusts are possible.
Temperatures will remain steady along the coast but could rise inland, especially in higher areas. Temperatures may reach 30°C in some south-facing inland locations.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 28°C.
Gran Canaria
Cloud will affect northern areas below 500 metres during the morning before gradually breaking up to reveal sunny spells. Elsewhere, conditions will remain largely clear. There is a small possibility of isolated light showers developing in inland areas during the afternoon, accompanied by some medium and high-level cloud.
Temperatures will rise slightly, particularly in southern inland areas and higher ground. Temperatures of between 30°C and 32°C are possible in south-facing mid-altitude areas and mountain regions.
Northerly winds will generally be light to moderate, although stronger gusts remain possible on exposed south-east and north-west coasts during the early morning and later afternoon.
General temperature range: Low of 19°C and high of 27°C.
Lanzarote
Cloudy skies are expected in the north during the early morning before giving way to brighter conditions throughout the day. The rest of the island will enjoy mostly sunny weather with only occasional cloud, while light to moderate northerly winds will be influenced by local sea breezes.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 29°C.
Fuerteventura
Northern and coastal areas may see some cloud during the early hours, but sunshine will dominate for most of the day. Light to moderate northerly winds are expected across the island. Forecasters say temperatures could locally reach 30°C in inland areas of the south-east.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 27°C.
