A 4-year-old girl dies after being knocked off her scooter on a pedestrian crossing

A 4-year-old girl died yesterday (Monday) after being run over whilst crossing a pedestrian crossing on a scooter in the town of Alsasua, as reported by the Guardia Civil.

The tragic incident took place at 7:20pm last night at kilometre 2 of the NA-8505 road in Navarra, and the driver of the vehicle that hit her is a 23-year-old resident of Alsasua who has tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

Guardia Civil Traffic Officers are in charge of the investigation into what happened, i.e., why was the young girl crossing the road by herself and why didn’t the driver stop, and the instruction of the corresponding proceedings including having her body transferred to the Navarro Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsy.

The police remind that it is against the law to ride a scooter, bicycle, or skateboard across a zebra crossing, you must get off and walk across. Only licenced mobility scooters for the disabled are allowed to cross. With someone on them.
