Agents of the Guardia Civil from Granadilla de Abona in collaboration with the Local Police of San Miguel de Abona, raided an illegal party on a finca in the municipality of San Miguel on Friday night. 28 people were partying in addition to a DJ a barman and the organiser who have all been sanctioned accordingly.
Most of the attendees were aged between 25 and 35, of foreign nationality, mostly Europeans and non-residents of the island, who were at a non-sanctioned party on private property, in breach of the Covid-19 prevention measures, i.e. the limitation of the maximum number of people in social encounters, organising an event that encourages unauthorised gathering, no social distancing, and no-one using masks.
Upon arriving at the scene, agents saw that the organizer had an area set up for a DJ, a bar and portable toilets, and the participants were drinking, dancing, and yes, enjoying themselves, but not in a safe way that meets Covid prevention protocols.
The organiser of the party and owner of the farm have been denounced and fined heavily for the event (set between 60,001 euros and 600,000 euros), by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Canarian Health Service for failure to comply with prevention and containment measures against Covid-19 in the Canary Islands.
