Tenerife chef nominated for the prestigious Fine Dining Lovers 'Food for Thought Award'

Tenerife-based chef Andrea Ravasio, currently at Zumaque in Puerto de la Cruz, has been nominated to represent the Iberian & Mediterranean region in this year’s Fine Dining Lovers 'Food for Thought Award'. Ravasio is one of 12 finalists from around the world chosen for representing their personal philosophy in a dish with public voting open now until 9am (GMT) on October 24th.

With his dish 'El Domingo del Campesino', Ravasio hopes to bring the flavours of the Canary Islands to the people, to the world, and to the future. Ravasio said “Through this dish, I want to celebrate the importance of Canary Island's ingredients in world gastronomy. We have a lot of products like ‘Cochino Negro’ or dishes like ‘Rancho Canario’ that even people in Spain don't know about.”

“In this dish, I decided to use simple products typical of the Canarian tradition like potatoes and Mojo Verde, and show that is possible to elevate them to fine dining” he added.
