Extra scare for Halloween in Tenerife as a two metre long snake found in streets

Pedestrians and drivers in La Orotava had an extra scare for Halloween yesterday when they spotted a two-metre long python slithering through the streets of the town.

The Local Police received several calls from people warning of the snake, and officers were dispatched to go and catch it. After going to where people reported the sighting, they carefully managed the catch the snake without harming it, and then took her to the Neotrópico Foundation in Santa Cruz.

They took in the reptile to check its health and condition until someone claims it with proof of ownership. Since its birth in 2000, the Neotrópico Foundation has released, in collaboration with the Cabildo de Tenerife, more than 1,000 rehabilitated sea turtles, have given more than 500 workshop talks, and more than 45,000 volunteers, both residents and visitors, have supported the entity.
