Shakira premieres new music video filmed at Siam Park in Tenerife

Shakira premiered the video for her new single ‘Don't Wait Up’ yesterday afternoon, which was recorded in Tenerife. The Colombian singer chose the Island to film it both for its landscapes, with shots of beaches such as Abama, as well as for its locations with numerous facilities, such as Siam Park, where the star showed that she also knows how to use a surfboard.

Shakira's latest project was recorded in May this year in the week leading up to when Siam Park re-opened, when the international artist travelled to the island with her production company to record in different natural settings and at the number one water park in the world.

The Colombian singer stayed at the Abama Hotel in Guia de Isora on the west coast of Tenerife with Gerard Piqué, her partner and FC Barcelona player, accompanied by their two children.

However, this is not the first time that Shakira and Piqué have visited Tenerife for work or for holidays, because in 2014 the couple bought a spectacular mansion in the north of the island, surrounded by banana plantations, located on a clifftop in El Rincón, in the Orotava Valley, although they have sold it since then due work commitments and not being able to visit as much as they wanted to.

Shakira’s first visit to the island was in 2006 when she performed a concert to 35,000 fans at the CD Tenerife football stadium in Santa Cruz, which was the final leg of her Oral Fixation tour, which is when she says she fell in love with the island.

‘Don't Wait Up’ was released internationally yesterday by Sony, and is the lead single from her upcoming twelfth studio album. It is also her first single completely in English since ‘Try Everything’ in 2016.
