A paraglider got killed yesterday morning (Sunday) after suffering a crash in a ravine Camino Viejo, in the municipality of Garachico in the north of Tenerife, as confirmed by the emergency services control centre.
They received an alert at 11:20am yesterday morning, and immediately activated the necessary emergency resources, dispatching an SUC ambulance, a GES rescue helicopter, Fire-fighters, and Police as the information they had received was that the paraglider had crashed into the side of a rock face and was suspended in a precarious place difficult to access.
Fire-fighters had to climb up to the location of the man, and managed to assist the helicopter crew in airlifting him to an accessible point for paramedics to assess his injuries.
Unfortunately they were only able to confirm his death from the injuries he sustained in the accident, and although his identity has not been released, he is thought to be a 35 year old man from Los Realejos.
