A new vent appears on the side of the main crater of the La Palma volcano

The La Palma volcano refuses to slow down and although seismic activity has decreased on the island, volcanic activity has increased, and a new explosion has opened a new vent in the flank of the main cone of the volcano. Pevolca has started to evacuate the remaining population from the neighbourhoods of Tajuya, Tacande de Arriba, and Tacande de Abajo, due to the increase in explosive phenomena.

The Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (Involcán) has just confirmed via Twitter that a new eruptive mouth has opened on one of the flanks of the active cone, and a few minutes ago, those three neighbourhoods, the closest to the eruption outside the perimeter evacuated in previous days, received an order to confine the population indoors.

In a message issued by the emergency services, Pevolca explains that the explosiveness of the eruption that began on Sunday has intensified, the expulsion of pyroclastic material has increased and the emission of ash is becoming stronger.

Throughout the morning, the explosions from the volcano are being felt in most parts of the island and the volume of ash emission has intensified, which has led to airlines operating local flights to La Palma from other islands (Binter Canarias and Canaryfly) to suspend all their flights to the island.
