Thousands of people from the north of Tenerife have headed to the south of the island to spend the bank holiday weekend in the sun, causing massive traffic jams on the TF-1 motorway yesterday, with more predicted today.
The Canary Islands Government appealed to the public last week to take extreme precautions to avoid a spike in the number of Covid infections during this period, as similar situations at Christmas and Carnival time, have set the islands epidemiological data back two months.
