An 85-year-old man died yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) after drowning in the swimming pool at a hotel located on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, the main road through Playa Las Americas in the south of Tenerife.
The Emergency Services Coordinating Centre (CECOES) received an alert at 3:18pm requesting assistance for a man that had been pulled from the pool in a critical state.
CECOES immediately activated the necessary emergency resources and dispatched them to the hotel, where lifeguards were performing CPR on the man who had stopped breathing.
On arrival, SUC paramedics confirmed that the man was in cardio-respiratory arrest and continued to perform advanced CPR manoeuvres to try and revive him, but unfortunately, this did not give any results and they could only confirm his death.
