Man arrested in Tenerife for cutting off someone’s finger

The National Police have arrested a 50-year-old man in the Tenerife neighbourhood of La Cuesta Piedra in Santa Cruz, for allegedly cutting off another man’s finger with a kitchen knife during a brawl.

Agents were called to a building in the aforementioned neighbourhood on Monday, where apparently there had been a brawl and one person had significant injuries.

Once at the scene, the police came across the victim bleeding from one of his hands, who told them that moments before, another man, who is an acquaintance of his, had severed one of his fingers with a kitchen knife. The police treated the man with First Aid whilst waiting for an ambulance to arrive, and found the rest of his finger to give to paramedics when they got there.

During this time they continued to talk to the victim, who told them where his attacker was. Once the ambulance arrived, police went straight to where they were told the attacker was, and found him in his apartment watching television as though nothing had happened. Upon questioning and searching the building they found the kitchen knife and arrested the man, who after questioning, confessed to the act.

The victim was transferred to hospital for further treatment, although his finger couldn’t be stitched back, and the attacker, after being transferred to the police station, was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority together with the statement made for this purpose by the National Police.
