The National Police have arrested a 28-year-old Polish man in Adeje in the south of Tenerife, after he attacked two policemen who told him to put on a mask when walking down a road.
According to the official press release, the incident took place on Avenida de Los Pueblos in the town when agents saw a male who was not wearing a mask, for which they stopped and asked for his identification.
At the same time, they repeatedly asked him to put on a mask, which the man ignored and refused to do so without, at any time, offering any explanation for his behaviour.
The man, on being informed that he was going to be fined, hit out at the policemen, knocking one of them over and hurting the other so that they both needed medical assistance for their injuries suffered.
However, the policemen, despite the strong resistance exerted by their aggressor, were able to reduce and arrest him, taking him to the police station, where he was guarded until he was finally placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
