Aeroplane almost collides with cars on the motorway in Tenerife

A surreal accident has fortunately been avoided between a light aircraft and cars on the TF-1 motorway in Arico in Tenerife this afternoon, after drivers reported it flying very, very low, and almost colliding with cars on the carriageway.

The plane didn’t crash and fortunately the incident ended without injury, as confirmed by the Arico City Council and the emergency services operating room, although it was flying so low that it damaged high-tension electricity cables along the side of the motorway.

Several drivers on the South carriageway of the TF-1 were surprised by the aircraft, which they described as "flying so low, that it almost collided with the cars on the motorway".

One man said on social media: “My wife came from work and at Abades they found a plane flying very low towards the South; the car in front had to hit the brakes to avoid an accident,” he says.

The plane damaged the cables that supply neighbourhoods of the Arico coast, which has caused power cuts this afternoon, and Endesa said that: "In order to repair the damage, it will be necessary to cut the power in one or both directions of the TF-1 motorway".
