The National Police have arrested a 45-year-old Latvian man in the north of Tenerife, who had a European Arrest Warrant issued by the judicial authorities of his country for cigarette smuggling. Police investigators carried out the operation after learning of his possible location on the island.

According to the Latvian authorities, the man was wanted for allegedly smuggling and distributing seven million euros worth of cigarettes and tobacco from the Canaries into Latvia.
