House explosion in La Laguna: It’s not known if anyone was inside or not

The City Council of La Laguna in Tenerife has reported an explosion this morning (Wednesday), in which part of a house has collapsed and at this moment in time it is unknown whether or not there were people inside. Firefighters have started clearing work of the rubble, and the La Laguna Rescue Dog Group is searching for victims.

The first assessment of the 40 square metres that were reduced to rubble has deduced that there are no people living there; however, it is not ruled out that there are fatalities, and canine agents, Ares and Silca, are searching the rubble now that the safety of the dogs has been guaranteed.

Emergency Services have reported that they are working in the house, located on the road to Las Mercedes, with Tenerife Firefighters, the Local Police of La Laguna Civil Protection, and the National Police all involved in making the site safe and searching for survivors.

They will then investigate the cause of the explosion.
