Forest fire reported in the pine forests of Arico in Tenerife

The emergency resources have been activated in Tenerife due to an outbreak of fire in the pine forests in the higher area of the municipality of Arico, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (COECES).

The first alert was received at 12.13 pm today in the area known as Las Gotas, in Arico Viejo so they dispatched the fire service, emergency helicopter, the Local Police and Guardia Civil, who are working with personnel from the forestry commission to control it.

On Thursday the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands declared an alert situation for forest fires in most of the Archipelago due to the high temperatures and drought suffered by the Islands.

UPDATE:
Emergency services have reported that the outbreak in Arico was one of 4 in the islands yesterday, the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures of 41.9 degrees recorded, and all were contained successfully by the emergency resources dispatched to the scenes.
