Emergency services urge drivers to take extra care on Tenerife’s roads

A 44-year-old man has been injured this afternoon in a traffic accident on the south-bound carriageway of the TF-1, as he passed through the municipality of El Rosario, after his vehicle overturned and he had to be transferred to the Ntra. Sra. De Candelaria University Hospital. Fortunately, his injuries were not life threatening.

Earlier this morning, a multiple collision, in which three cars were involved, generated significant traffic jams on the TF-5 motorway heading in a northern direction, at the height of San Lázaro, in La Laguna.

Due to the greater risk of an accident on the roads, extreme precautions are requested by the emergency services, who say only go out if it is absolutely necessary, as the drop in temperatures that has brought the cold weather has seen hail in relatively low areas such as Tegueste and Santa Úrsula.

Combined with this heavy rains, which are still expected until tomorrow, are making roads slippery and dangerous.
