Emergency rescue in progress of three bathers by Costa Del Silencio

Emergency services have dispatched a GES Helicopter, a Maritime Rescue boat, and the relevant land services after receiving an emergency call this afternoon informing that three people are in trouble in the water off the coast of Costa Del Silencio in Arona in the south of Tenerife.

According to the Emergency Call Centre (CECOES), a “comprehensive emergency device” is on site to try and rescue those involved as soon as possible.

This is the second emergency rescue in 24 hours after three people were rescued from the sea in Santiago del Teide last night, one of whom, a Swiss female in her twenties, remains in critical condition in hospital, and a fourth remained missing. Sources have said that the Swiss girl was staying in San Miguel de Abona with family, but her mother couldn't come with her on the flight as she tested positive for Covid.

His body was recovered this morning by the specialists of the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Guardia Civil, from the sea by El Tancón, in Santiago del Teide. He is confirmed to be a 27-year-old male from the north of Tenerife.
