Superstar singer Dua Lipa, is in Tenerife filming an advertisement for fashion company Yves Saint Laurent which, among other locations, has chosen the Plaza de España in Santa Cruz and Playa Bollullo in La Orotava, causing quite a stir for many who weren’t expecting to see her there.
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through their Development department, has contributed to carrying out the procedures and issuing the relevant permits in the different municipal areas in order to facilitate the filming, which is being carried out by local production company, Volcano Films.
Volcano have worked on a regional and national level on the island, and has opted for Santa Cruz for the second time in a year, this time for Yves Saint Laurent, and previously with Louis Vuitton, where the Anaga Massif, Biosphere Reserve, was chosen for that production.
Until this stage of production, of which the name of the actual product has not yet been revealed for reasons of confidentiality, the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by councillor Alfonso Cabello, expressed their "satisfaction that the city has been chosen for the filming of this type of audiovisual product, which in addition to the economic repercussions that it entails for companies related to the sector, represent an invaluable promotional opportunity for the island.”
Cabello affirmed that 185 people, including extras, technical personnel, transportation, etc, have been involved in the production, which has been carried out at a cost of around half a million euros for the local economy.
It’s not the first time that Dua Lipa has been to Tenerife, she admits she used to holiday here as a child before she was famous, and had a video go viral last March when her holiday to the island was cancelled due to lockdown.
