TUESDAY WEATHER: Sunshine and temperatures up to 28°C in the Canary Islands today

The Canary Islands can look forward to another day of pleasantly warm October temperatures today, Tuesday, with sunny intervals across much of the archipelago and highs reaching 28°C in Lanzarote.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), temperatures will remain largely unchanged or rise slightly, while cloud cover will vary considerably between the north and south of the islands.

The brightest conditions are expected in parts of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and the southern areas of Tenerife and Grean Canaria, particularly where cloud breaks develop during the afternoon.

Although some light to moderate rain is forecast in northern Tenerife and Gran Canaria, AEMET is not forecasting any significant adverse weather today.

TENERIFE:

Tenerife will experience a mixture of cloud and sunshine, with the best opportunities for brighter weather generally in the southern half of the island.

Northern areas will see more persistent cloud, with occasional light to moderate rain possible, particularly in the north-east and higher areas around Anaga.

In the south and south-west, including Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos, there will be cloudy intervals and some sunny spells, although additional cloud may develop around midday.

Temperatures are forecast to range between 22°C and 27°C, with moderate northeasterly winds becoming stronger in exposed southeastern and western areas.

GRAN CANARIA:

Gran Canaria will also see contrasting conditions between the north and south.

Las Palmas and northern areas are expected to experience mostly cloudy skies, with occasional light rain, particularly at higher elevations.

Further south, including Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico, conditions should be generally brighter, with intervals of sunshine and some passing cloud.

Temperatures are forecast to range from 23°C to 27°C, with some southern areas potentially experiencing a slight rise in daytime temperatures.

The northeast trade winds will strengthen during the afternoon, especially along exposed coastal areas.

LANZAROTE:

Lanzarote is expected to enjoy some of the warmest conditions across the islands today.

The morning will bring a mixture of low and high cloud, with cloud cover increasing temporarily before clearer skies develop during the afternoon, with temperatures forecast to reach 28°C, with a minimum of 22°C.

Holidaymakers in Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise can expect a mixture of cloud and sunny intervals, particularly later in the day.

Moderate northeasterly winds will become stronger in some western inland areas during the afternoon.

FUERTEVENTURA:

Fuerteventura will begin the day with variable cloud, but conditions are expected to brighten as the afternoon progresses.

Temperatures will range between 22°C and 26°C, with slightly warmer conditions possible in some western areas.

Visitors in Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma and Morro Jable can expect comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities, although the breeze may become more noticeable later in the day.

Northeasterly winds will remain moderate, strengthening during the afternoon.

A pleasant October day, but watch the breeze at the coast

For residents and holidaymakers, today's temperatures should remain comfortable for shopping, sightseeing and outdoor activities, especially in the brighter southern resorts.

However, the strengthening northeasterly winds could make conditions breezier during the afternoon.

AEMET's marine forecast indicates that waves could reach between one and two metres in exposed waters around Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, while rougher seas are possible along some northern and eastern coastlines.

Anyone planning swimming, boating or other water activities should check local beach flags and sea conditions before entering the water.

Overall, Tuesday offers another pleasantly warm autumn day across the Canary Islands, with the best sunshine likely in the eastern islands during the afternoon and in the more sheltered southern areas of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
