SATURDAY WEATHER: Sunny spells as temperatures ease across the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands will have a mix of sunshine and cloud this Saturday, 17th October, with temperatures dropping towards the average for this time of year, after the recent warmer weather.

There will still be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, although conditions will vary around the islands. Cloud will become more noticeable in some areas later, bringing a chance of rain.

Light calima — fine Saharan dust in the atmosphere — is expected to clear gradually from midday, improving the outlook in higher areas.

At The Beach and Outdoors

A north-westerly swell of one to two metres will affect exposed coastlines. Conditions will differ between sheltered bays and open beaches, so follow the flags and lifeguards’ instructions before entering the water.

Sun protection remains useful during bright spells. For evening plans, take a light layer, particularly if you will be sitting outside or heading inland.

Forecast for each of the islands on Saturday 17th October 2026:

TENERIFE
Sunny spells will alternate with cloud, particularly in the north and west early and late in the day. Cloud developing over southern and western inland areas could bring occasional afternoon rain.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 28°C, with a minimum of 22°C, and will fall more noticeably at middle elevations, while exposed coasts and mountain areas will be breezier.

Anyone planning a walk inland should take a light waterproof and check the forecast for their route.

GRAN CANARIA
The south will generally have the brighter conditions, while the north will see more cloud. Some light rain is possible later, particularly around northern slopes.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 26°C, with a minimum of 23°C. Northern inland areas will feel cooler than in recent days.

North to north-easterly winds will be stronger along exposed south-eastern and north-western stretches of coast.

LANZAROTE
Cloud will come and go, becoming more persistent in the north and along parts of the southern coastline. There should still be bright spells, with little prospect of rain during the day.

Temperatures will be slightly lower, with a maximum of around 26–27°C and a minimum of 21°C.

The northerly breeze will strengthen during the afternoon, while the light haze at higher levels gradually fades.

FUERTEVENTURA
A mixture of cloud and sunny breaks is expected, with more cloud around the beginning and end of the day. The outlook remains largely dry.

Temperatures will reach around 26–27°C, with a minimum of 21°C. The drop will be more noticeable inland on the western side of the island.

A northerly breeze will freshen along the coast during the afternoon, making exposed beaches feel cooler.
