Covid update: Over 100 new daily cases for first time in almost a month

Today’s data from the Ministry of Health reports of 101 new cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands, the first time there has been more than 100 since September 28th. Of the new cases, 46 are in Tenerife, 43 in Gran Canaria, 9 in Lanzarote, 2 in Fuerteventura, 1 in La Gomera, and none in La Palma or El Hierro.

The total number of cases in the Canary Islands is now 96,706 with 889 still active, of which 20 are admitted to ICU and 66 remain hospitalized in wards. In the last 24 hours, there has also been the death of a 93-year-old man in Tenerife, who suffered from previous pathologies and was already admitted to hospital.

On the day that booster jabs start in the over 70s in the Canary Islands, the SCS have updated the vaccination stats for each age group, showing which ones have had the most vaccinations, and which one the least:
- Over 65s: 99.5% fully vaccinated.
- Age 60-65: 83.22% one dose, and 66.87% fully vaccinated.
- Age 50-59: 96.42% one dose, and 97.27% fully vaccinated.
- Age 40-49: 60.27% one dose, and 78.86% fully vaccinated (including Janssen singles dose).
- Age 30-39: 66.02% one dose, and 62.43% fully vaccinated.
- Age 20-29: 61.84% one dose, and 57.56% fully vaccinated.
- Age 12-19: 78.52% one dose, and 76.53% fully vaccinated.
