Agents of the National Police have arrested a 42-year-old Chinese citizen in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, who is the administrator of several companies, who have imported fake products from China for sale in the stores he runs. The police investigation began after learning, through the judicial authority, of the existence of an establishment in the capital of Tenerife that possibly traded in counterfeit products on a significant scale.
During the investigation, the National Police, determined that there were more than 123,000 counterfeit products in the store due, which are mainly, toys, textiles, and perfumes that appear to be products of prestigious brands with misleading packaging and labeling. In total, the products have a market value of close to 2 million euros.
Agents have arrested a 42-year-old Chinese man as the alleged perpetrator of the crime against industrial property and intellectual copyright. Before his arrest, the man took certain security measures since, if he suspected that he was being investigated for his activities, he would stop them to try to avoid the police.
The actions have been carried out by National Police officers of the Provincial Brigade of the Judicial Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and the detainee is in the hands of the Judicial Authorities awaiting trial.
