Woman killed after being hit by a tram in Tenerife
A woman has died this morning (Tuesday) after being hit by a tram in the capital of Tenerife, according to reports from the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The fatal accident occurred between the Puente Zurita and Cruz del Señor stops, in the direction of Santa Cruz. Emergency resources were deployed immediately, including the Local Police, the National Police, Tenerife firefighters, and a Canarian Emergency Service ambulance.
Metrotenerife announced via its social media channels that services were suspended at the Puente Zurita, Cruz del Señor, and Conservatorio stops from 10:30am following the incident. Services are currently running only between Trinidad–Chimisay and La Paz–Intercambiador.
The accident caused significant disruption in the area, and authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances of the incident.
