A woman, whose age and identity remains unknown, has died after drowning by the Charco Las Lajas natural pools in Bajamar, located in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife.
According to the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), a 112 distress call was received at 1:35pm reporting that a woman was showing signs of drowning in the sea.
Rescue personnel from the Helimer helicopter retrieved the woman from the water and transported her to Tenerife South Airport. Despite efforts by the crew to revive her, SUC medical staff confirmed her death upon arrival.
The circumstances leading to her death are under investigation.
