WEDNESDAY WEATHER: Showers and cooler temperatures in parts of the Canary Islands
AEMET are forecasting light or locally moderate rain showers in the Canary Islands today, Wednesday, especially in inland areas, on a day when temperatures will continue to drop slightly across the islands.
Winds are expected to remain generally light, blowing from the north before turning south-westerly in mid-altitude and higher areas as the day progresses.
At sea, conditions will be moderate, with north or north-westerly winds reaching force 4 to 5, gradually shifting north-easterly later. There will be moderate seas, easing slightly in western waters, while eastern areas see slight to moderate conditions. A north-westerly swell of between one and two metres is expected to build, potentially reaching up to three metres from the early hours.
Overall, it will be a more unsettled day across the Canary Islands, with a mix of cloud, occasional rain, and slightly cooler conditions, but clearer and sunnier in coastal areas in the south of the islands.

Tenerife
Central peaks mostly clear, with some high cloud at times. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly cloudy, but clearer in the south, with a likelihood of light or occasionally moderate rain, particularly inland around midday. Temperatures largely unchanged, although maximums may fall slightly to moderately in the north and north-east. Light north-easterly winds, with sea breezes during the day, and moderate south-westerlies on higher ground.

Gran Canaria
Generally cloudy, except in the west where clearer intervals are expected during the middle of the day. In the east, light and occasional rain is likely later in the afternoon. Temperatures steady or slightly lower. Light north-easterly winds, with sea breezes developing during the day.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 22°C.
Lanzarote
Cloudy intervals with a low chance of light, isolated showers early in the morning, clearing to sunnier spells later. Temperatures steady or slightly lower. Light northerly winds.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 23°C.
Fuerteventura
Similar conditions to Lanzarote, with cloudy periods and a small chance of light rain at dawn, followed by clearer skies in the afternoon. Temperatures steady or slightly falling. Light northerly winds.
