The Local Police have reported that a burst pipe has caused significant damage to the surface of Calle Polonia, which is the road located between Siam Park and Siam Mall in Las Americas in the south of Tenerife, causing the tarmac to crack and subside.
The local authorities have closed the road to traffic to ensure the safety of passers-by and drivers until the necessary repairs have been carried out, and are currently working to restore normality as soon as possible.
In the last few hours, a video has been circulating on social media of the cracked and sunken road, showing how part of the pavement rises in a surprising way, causing strange deformations, as well as subsidence in the road.
The situation has generated great concern among residents and visitors to the area who are advised to avoid the affected area and follow the instructions of the local authorities.
The repair works are expected to be carried out diligently to restore normality to the street and allow traffic safety in the shortest possible time.
