VIDEO: Police raid two illegal cannabis clubs in the south of Tenerife
Two cannabis clubs have been closed in the south of Tenerife in a joint operation by the National Police and the Local Police of Adeje. The establishments, located in tourist-heavy areas, were being used as fronts for the illegal sale of drugs, with a particular focus on targeting holidaymakers.
Investigators revealed that both venues falsely operated under the legal guise of “non-profit social clubs”, a status that allows for the limited and private use of cannabis among registered members. However, rather than adhering to these restrictions, the clubs were found to be functioning as direct drug distribution points.
Authorities discovered that the clubs actively advertised themselves on social media and through mobile apps, openly offering access and cannabis products to people with no prior connection to the associations — a clear breach of Spain’s cannabis club regulations.
As part of the operation, officers conducted three simultaneous searches: two at the cannabis clubs and one at an adjoining property. The raids led to the seizure of significant quantities of drugs, including more than 2.5 kilos of marijuana, over half a kilo of hashish, and 1.5 kilos of rosin — a highly potent cannabis concentrate extracted from hashish.
In addition, more than 100 edible cannabis products were confiscated, such as cookies, sweets, and cakes. Police also recovered items commonly used in drug distribution, including precision scales, vacuum-sealed packaging, and over €1,600 in cash.
Two people were arrested during the operation. Both are known to the police and have previous records for similar offences.
The investigation remains ongoing, as authorities continue efforts to clamp down on illegal drug activity disguised as legitimate cannabis associations, particularly those exploiting the area’s popularity with tourists.
