VIDEO: Hiker airlifted after fall on Cherfe Trail in Santiago del Teide

A hiker was airlifted to safety on Saturday morning after suffering a fall near the access area of the Cherfe trail in the municipality of Santiago del Teide in the west of Tenerife.
The incident occurred at around 8:30am, when the Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert reporting that a man had fallen and required urgent medical attention.
Rescue teams from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) reached the injured hiker by helicopter. According to the initial assessment by paramedics, he had sustained multiple injuries. After being stabilised on site, he was airlifted by helicopter to the Adeje Fire Brigade helipad.
Once on the ground, SUC medical personnel continued providing care before transferring him by basic life support ambulance to Hospiten Sur University Hospital for further treatment.
Members of the Tenerife Fire Brigade Consortium also took part in the operation, ensuring the helicopter’s safe landing and take-off manoeuvres.
