A Jet2 flight from Bristol, LS1893, was forced to accelerate its landing at Tenerife South Airport this morning (Sunday), after a passenger suffered a medical emergency onboard.
According to Air Traffic Controllers (ATC), who reported the incident on X (formerly Twitter), the aircraft was en route to Tenerife when the flight crew informed air traffic control about the passenger’s deteriorating condition.
In response, Tenerife South’s air traffic control immediately activated the standard emergency protocol, shortening the aircraft’s approach and clearing the flight path for it to land as quickly as possible so that the passenger could receive urgent treatment.
Medical teams were alerted and ready on the ground to provide immediate assistance upon the plane’s arrival. However, no further details about the passenger’s condition have been released.
Following the incident, the Air Traffic Controllers' statement on X expressed their hope for the passenger’s swift recovery, while acknowledging the efficient coordination between the flight crew and ground teams.
