Two British women have been seriously injured after being hit by a white van that swerved on the Las Chafiras to Golf del Sur ring road, in the south of Tenerife, and mounted the pavement knocking them over causing them serious injuries.
According to the incident report by CECOES (the Emergency Services Coordination Centre), the incident occurred on Sunday night at around 8.30pm on Avenida José Miguel Galván Bello in San Miguel de Abona.
Paramedics assessed both women, who are on holiday in Tenerife, when they arrived at the scene, one had a serious head injury and was stabilised before being transferred to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital for further treatment, and the other had broken ribs and other injuries for which she was taken by ambulance to Hospiten Sur.
Agents of the Local Police and the Guardia Civil were also dispatched to the area to conduct the corresponding proceedings, and are looking for the white van and the male driver, who did not stop after the accident. They ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen the van, spotted the registration number, or knows who it is to come forward with any information by calling 922 753 925.
