Police in the south of Tenerife have arrested two men linked to a series of burglaries across Arona, including a break-in at a restaurant in Los Cristianos on 30th December. Officers from the National Police say the pair stole €1,050 after forcing open a window at the premises.
What initially looked like a one-off theft turned out to be part of a much larger pattern. Detectives discovered that one of the men is a seasoned repeat offender responsible for multiple burglaries across the area.
The “climbing thief”
Police have one of the men linked to another restaurant break-in where he scaled a three-metre wall to get inside, stealing €544 in cash. He is also suspected of carrying out seven nighttime burglaries inside a local hotel, targeting high-end alcohol and mobile phones.
His crime spree extended further, with officers reporting that he regularly stole clothing and bottles of alcohol from supermarkets, allegedly to sell on the black market.
Arrests under Arona’s Safe Commerce Plan
The operation took place as part of the Plan de Comercio Seguro, designed to protect businesses from persistent offenders. Thanks to coordinated work between police teams, both suspects were tracked down and arrested.
Court orders provisional imprisonment
A judge has now ordered provisional prison for both men due to the number and seriousness of the offences. Their detention has brought relief to local shop and restaurant owners who had been on alert for weeks.
Police continue to investigate whether the pair may be connected to other incidents in the south of Tenerife.
