The National Police have launched a murder investigation after two men turned up at a police station in Santa Cruz de Tenerife during the early hours of Wednesday morning with a dead body in their car.

According to local newspaper El Día, the suspects have been identified as Moisés “Moi” Baute, a well-known kickboxer, and Jonathan Martín, a nightclub bouncer from the capital. Both men allegedly arrived at the police station with the victim's body in the back seat of their vehicle and handed themselves in to authorities.

The deceased has been named as “Albertito”, a resident of the El Cardonal neighbourhood in La Laguna, and reportedly known to both suspects. A missing persons report had been filed by his partner on Tuesday afternoon after they were unable to contact him.

Murder Investigation Underway

The National Police’s homicide unit is now treating the case as a suspected revenge killing, although other lines of inquiry remain open. Investigators are currently piecing together the events leading up to the victim’s death, with forensic teams examining both the body and the vehicle.

Both Baute and Martín have been arrested and are being treated as suspected perpetrators of homicide. At the time of writing, no formal charges have been announced, and the motive behind the incident is still being determined.

The shocking nature of the case, involving two well-known local figures and the brazen delivery of the body to police, has sent ripples through the Santa Cruz community. Authorities have urged the public not to speculate as the investigation continues.

More details are expected to emerge in the coming days as police question the suspects and await the results of the autopsy.
