Two men have been arrested following a series of robberies in South Tenerife, including a violent street theft and break-ins at local businesses, the Guardia Civil has confirmed.
Officers from the Playa de las Américas station detained an 18-year-old man from Arona on suspicion of robbery with violence after an incident in Costa del Silencio. The victim reported being attacked, with the suspect allegedly grabbing a gold chain from their neck after a struggle before pushing them to the ground and escaping.
Police launched an immediate search and, based on the victim’s description, found and arrested the suspect within an hour of the incident.
In a separate operation, officers from the Guardia Civil’s public safety unit arrested a 39-year-old man, also from Arona, accused of carrying out four break-ins at commercial premises in the same area.
According to investigators, the suspect allegedly forced doors and windows to gain access to two businesses in Costa del Silencio and two more in Las Galletas. Cash was stolen in each case, along with damage caused during the break-ins.
Following enquiries, officers were able to identify and quickly find the suspect, leading to his arrest.
Both men have been handed over to the judicial authorities along with the relevant case files.
