Officers from the Policía Nacional have arrested a 44-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both with prior criminal records, accused of carrying out a string of petrol station robberies in the south of Tenerife. The pair are suspected of committing eight separate thefts during September, targeting service stations in the municipalities of Adeje and Arona.

Police launched an investigation after identifying a clear pattern in the robberies and were able to trace the suspects through the vehicles they used. The gang used different cars, both privately owned and rented, to commit the crimes. The vehicles were hired by a third accomplice, who then handed them over to the pair to carry out the robberies. This man is already serving a prison sentence, but has now also been charged in connection with the case.

Their method was always the same. The woman would park in the car wash area, pretending to be a normal customer, while the man forced open the cash boxes of the self-service machines and stole the money inside.

After gathering and analysing evidence, police linked the eight robberies to the same group and carried out an operation near the suspects’ home. Both were arrested and brought before the court, where the judge ordered their release pending further charges.
