Two arrested for €25,000 theft at hotel occupied by squatters in Callao Salvaje

The Guardia Civil has arrested two men, aged 55 and 22, in connection with the theft of furnishings from a hotel occupied by squatters in Callao Salvaje, located in the south of Tenerife.

Both men are residents of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the crime, which took place inside a hotel currently under illegal occupation.

The arrests were part of ongoing surveillance operations conducted by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command of the Guardia Civil around the premises in recent months.

In total, five people have been detained in connection with criminal activity at the Callao Sport Hotel, some caught in the act, others apprehended shortly after committing the offences.

So far, the authorities have recovered stolen furniture and equipment valued at more than €25,000. Among these items were tables, chairs, sun loungers, and industrial kitchen appliances, including refrigerators and ovens.

Following the latest reported theft, the Guardia Civil launched a coordinated response led by the Central Operative Services (COS). Several units stationed in the south of the island were deployed to track down the suspects. Their vehicle was eventually intercepted, and both men were arrested at the scene. The stolen goods were recovered intact.

The two suspects, along with the case file compiled by the Guardia Civil, have been brought before the Arona Court of Instruction on duty in Los Cristianos.
