The National Police, based at the Border Post of Gran Canaria Airport, have arrested two men, both 31 years old and with previous criminal records, for the theft of €17,000 from the office of UTE-EAS, the company responsible for managing the airport’s outdoor car park.
The incident occurred on 20th October 2024 when the suspects, riding a high-powered motorcycle with a false number plate, forced their way into the office and stole the cash, which had been left on a desk.
To avoid identification, the thieves kept their helmets on throughout the robbery, preventing security cameras from capturing their faces.
Three-Month Investigation Leads to Arrests
Following a three-month investigation, police gathered sufficient evidence to apprehend the suspects on 5th February 2025. The search of a house in Telde led to the seizure of the motorcycle used in the crime, which has been impounded and sealed.
Investigators also recovered a pair of trainers worn by one of the suspects at the time of the robbery.
After completing the necessary police procedures, the detainees were taken into custody and have since been brought before the relevant judicial authority. To start legal proceedings against them.
