Two 21-year-old male holidaymakers were injured yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) after their quad bike fell from a 15-metre cliff edge in Vilaflor in the south of Tenerife, according to reports from the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The relevant emergency resources were dispatched to the scene of the accident in Monte de Cho Pancho, near El Frontón, within the municipality of Vilaflor, where the fire brigade located and rescued the two injured Italian men.
Upon arrival, medical personnel provided immediate assistance to both men for various ‘moderate’ injuries, who were then taken by ambulance to Hospiten Sur for further treatment.
The Local Police are conducting the necessary enquiry into the incident to determine the cause of the accident, why they were in this area, and who they were with, i.e., as part of an excursion or by themselves.
The incident highlights once again the difficult terrain in Tenerife and the importance of safety measures and maximum awareness when participating in this type of adventure sport or activity.
